Tom’s List is ready to transform your life. It’s been a long journey. I began writing Tom’s List: 50 commandments to Transform Your Life more than two years ago. I remember the first attempt to write on a commandment. Surrounded by rowdy seventh graders, while serving as a substitute teacher, was not the best environment to begin the writing process.
A few of you will remember I posted an article on my website each week on a different commandment. At some point I realized I was writing a book; enabling me to strike an elusive item off my bucket list.
But Tom’s List isn’t about me. The excitement about the book being available on Amazon is because it will help people. This is not guesswork or hopeful thinking on my part. I’m certain it can transform lives because it helped transform my life.
When I first started writing about the commandments I was unemployed. I felt broken. My future was uncertain. The world seemed a hostile place. My plan to cope with my misery focused on pulling the covers over my head. But a funny thing happened as I became exposed to the list Tom left behind. Life gradually improved. Part of the credit goes to the List.
The wise legacy of Tom Drake lives on and it can transform your life.
Many of you have been a partner with me in the exploration of Tom’s List. You have a vested interest in making it possible for Tom’s wisdom to transform as many lives as possible. Since we are partners, I’m asking for your help in 4 ways:
1. Please buy the book. This week it will be available on Amazon in Kindle format and as a paperback. The paperback is “print on demand.” This used to scare me because I thought it meant a big delay in getting it. But I’ve discovered it only takes Amazon an extra 2-3 days in delivery. And if you’re a regular reader please know that most of the content will have already appeared on my site. (I’ve added some practical application steps and reworked the material.) There is, however, something special about having the entire material in one location!
2. Consider buying copies for friends. About six weeks ago, a college friend called me and placed an order for 20 copies to give to his Sunday School pupils. I believe so strongly in Tom’s List that I’m not afraid to say it’s a good investment in someone’s future.
3. When I do promotional stuff this week, please share it. There are many people who need the wisdom of Tom’s List but have no clue it exists. This is where you come in. Again, the idea is to help people improve their lives.
4. When you get the book, would you please leave an honest feedback on the Amazon product page for Tom’s List? An honest feedback, especially a positive one, is valuable in making the book a success.
It goes against my nature to ask for help. I’ve learned to be self-reliant. But this is different. I can’t do this alone. I need your help if Tom’s List is going to transform your life and the life of those around you.
Will you help me?
Since this article appeared on June 6 Tom’s List appeared for sale on Amazon. You can check it out HERE. In addition to being available in paperback it will soon be offered as an eBook for Kindle readers.

Hello again, Dr. Hartman,
Back in 2016 I was privileged to be one of the beta readers for “Tom’s List” (and ended up proofreading it as well). Fast forward a few years and, inspired by author/editor/Facebook friend Andi Cumbo-Floyd’s 30-day project to thank 30 authors whose work particularly touched and inspired her, I embarked on a series of 30 blog posts to do the same. Today, you and “Tom’s List” are the featured author/book over at https://bluetypewriter.com/30-books-and-30-thanks-randall-hartman/. I’m glad to see you’re still writing and sharing your experiences in your informative and enjoyable blog. Wishing you all the best! Keep writing!
